We here at the Earthbox host an array of travel groups every year. From middle school field trips, island weddings and family reunions to national and international tour companies like the acclaimed, not-for-profit Road Scholar.

Road Scholar’s mission is to inspire adults to learn, discover and travel. Their national and international learning adventures engage expert instructors, provide extraordinary access, and stimulate discourse and friendship among people for whom learning is the journey of a lifetime.

Welcome Road Scholar to Earthbox Inn & Spa

Between April and October, Road Scholar offers an array of adventures on San Juan Island. Most of them have you sleeping in our cozy inn, swimming in our pool and learning and dinng in our spacious conference room, just steps away from everything you can explore in the cute, walkable, coastal town of Friday Harbor.

Road Scholar San Juan Island offers kayaking adventures, coastal hikes, and history exploration in our archipelago, all paired with fantastic food, wonderful presentations and excellent company. Our favorite of all the programs is the Whales & Trails Intergenerational tour, where grandparents and grandkids explore the waterways and trails of the San Juan Islands afoot and afloat in search of orca whales, and learn all about these intelligent animals. Road Scholar has been staying with us for over two decades. Road Scholar is turning 50 this year and we celebrate their longevity for they have earned it with the quality of their trips. Happy Birthday, Road Scholar!
